What is a Live Stream?

Live streaming means the creation of Live content. You may have heard of Twitch: it's a platform where gamers stream their gameplay & interact with their audience. We are creating the same forum for professionals in the spaces of stock trading, finance, marketing, design & others. Unlike courses, the content is never predefined, the streams are usually not pre-scheduled & it involves a lot more interactivity with the audience.

Live Stream V. Courses/Youtube Videos

Here's an example. Let's say you are a stock trader & content creator/educator. A course would be on “How to become a stock trader”, would require you to pre-record the content & it would involve a 1-way format of communication. A live stream, on the other hand, would mean you streaming your day trading patterns or portfolio allocation, it would involve you responding to questions in the chatbox & would be live. The same applies to design - instead of sharing tips & tricks, you would stream the design work you are already creating or branding - where you would do live audits of design works rather than share PDFS & so on.

The Benefits:

Requires minimal preparation

You do not have to pre-record any content & can go live with the click of a button. Whereas, when creating courses / static video, in a world where Masterclass exists, the expectations of pre-recorded content is higher: in terms of quality & delivery. Thus, a simple Zoom recording of a course no longer suffices & you need to create high quality pre-recorded content to engage users.

Highly Interactive & fluid

Courses are pre-recorded & thus there is no two-way communication. Whereas, a live stream involves you responding to the questions of the viewers in real-time. This makes for highly engaging content & perhaps why the completion rates of a live stream are upwards of 70% v. courses that are 5-15%.

Top of the funnel

Think of Live streams as a top-of-the-funnel activity. That can help you build & engage with your audience with limited effort. Consequently, you can use live streams as a way to drive further awareness for the courses you are creating- if that's something you still want to do- use it to drive traffic to your existing sources of monetization eg. consultations/services or drive monetization via the auctions system we have built out.

Repurpose content

The creator/educator should use live streams as part of their daily work flow, like gamers do. If you are designing graphics: stream it, if you are trading: stream it, if you are doing brand strategy discussions or fundraise pitches: you guessed it, stream it- this helps you create content that is highly valuable, engaging & requires limited upfront cost.
